Yet again anet fails with announcements
Im sorry but after almost 6 yrs of gw you would think that anet would be able to give us ample notice of events.
Many players over a few yrs of play will remember anet used to give us weekend and special events almost 3 - 4 days in advance and now they seem to have major probs with informing us of anything.
Last 2 yrs of both easter and gw birthday - mainly the easter event - if i recall wasnt even announced and yet again this year ( gone past 11am in uk ) anet seems to have forgotten to announce anything.
Why bother having the announcement system when it seems theres no staff able to use it ?.
Im sorry if this seems like nothing much but look at it from the players view , we enjoy playing gw ( otherwise we wouldnt be here would we :P ) and in order to really enjoy the events that anet so nicely arrange for us we have to know when these events start. Its nice to see xx event starts at weekend a few days in advance so we can plan our real lives and ingame lives around it - making our own event runs , seeing who may be on an team up .. etc.
Im sure that anet plans events in advance ( sure as hell most mmo games do ) and anet can say in advance any skill changes that the devs are releasing soon and any maintenance so someone knows and surely they can pass the info down the chain where we the players finally get told whats comming.
For once this isnt a qq topic about anets nerfing etc but a simple moan/request that im sure many players would like to see got back on track.
So please if any anet employee reads this - can you see why this has become so bad and see if someone could fix it or even let us know on here why its become so bad.

You miss the point - we know its easter , there should be an easter drops weekend but like last 2 yrs no easter events been announced which leaves the question - when does it start/end or is there an actual easter drop weekend - when does the 6th birthday event start ?
All that is asked is that anet returns to giving us advance warning a few days in advance instead of leaving us in the dark

I agree with the poster, it is really pathetic and lacks customer focus by the CM and Live Team. Again, the failure to do basic things frequently is frustrating when they could easily do what needs to be done, like any real business would, put customers first.

Hmmm I may be wrong but it seems to me that most weekend that involve only special drops are announced only two days in advance. So I haven't been expecting any announcement until sometime this afternoon.

Some of the special events have been announced hours before the 'official' start. Consistency from the anet team would be good.

So you'd like them to consistently announce events several hours before the 'official' start?

Well there's 99% chance it's just a copycat from last year but , considering there is no announcement plus we're getting close to GvG mat , maybe there will be some update tonight ?

Maybe they think that as it has been the same drops every year for Easter that the playerbase is intelligent enough to realise that.. OMG it will be Easter drops over Easter again this year and they don't need to keep wasting time with announcements.
Oh well guess they are wrong.

Maybe anet converted to Greek/Russian/Serbian Orthodox, which celebrate Easter at a different time.

you should work in advertising...
if you have been playing the game for years, surely gwwiki should just be deleted to. I mean, seeing as were all so pro here, you should be able to see what updates and skill changes have been made just by logging in.
the point is, if they announce weekend events a few days before they start, like they used to, you might actually look at it and think 'hmmm, i might log in this weekend when i have some free time'. not everyone has all day to stare at their screens and wait for the announcement. I'm sure those who only log in once or twice a week would like to know if a weekend event is happening or not.

there are new players also that don't know anything about these events , so they always should be announced properly...

Maybe not everyone celebrates easter, and so doesn't know when it is? Maybe new players don't know there's an easter event?

its still quite early in the day for anet over in good ole washington state....so sometime this afternoon they should have the announcement up (though yes they have waited until AFTER the event started a few times to put it up)....so expect it today if not tomorrow.

Not everyone a) celebrates Easter, b) is aware of Easter, c) celebrates Easter at the same time.
Most years, Easter for my family is at a different time than what most of you think of as Easter... my in-laws are Russian Orthodox, so that's the only Easter I pay attention to or am cognizant of the timing of. This year it happens to be the same weekend as "the other Easter." That's not usually the case. If I'm lucky, my kids will mention to me that "the other Easter" is a particular date since its relevant to some of their friends and thus to their plans.
And that doesn't even begin to address all of the other belief systems (or atheists or agnostics) who don't celebrate Easter and have no reason to know when it falls each year, particularly since it is always on a different date.
It's presumptive to assume the rest of society knows, or cares, when a religious holiday a good portion of the world doesn't acknowledge, falls.
